SPEAKERS : Diana Nammi - U K

Diana Nammi is the Executive Director of IKWRO. She has dedicated her life to campaigning for universal human rights.
She spent 12 years as a Kurdish freedom fighter and this year published ‘Girl With A Gun’ a book about her early life. In 2002 she founded IKWRO - Women’s Rights Organisation safeguarding and advocating for women and girls from Middle Eastern and North African communities.

 Elahe Amani - U S A


Elahe Amani is a gender, peace, and human rights activist. She served California State University System for the last 31 years .

Elahe has followed the global women’s movement since 1985. Further, she is a well-published writer both in English and Persian on issues related to Peace, justice, women, and human rights.


Nadia Mahmood - Iraq

Nadia Mahmood, is an Iraqi feminist based in Iraq. She is a member of the political bureau of the worker-communist party of Iraq. She participated in the founding women’s rights organisations inside and outside Iraq. She co-founder of Aman Women Alliance. She participated in a number of  conferences in Europe and the Middle East to address issues related to women and civil society in Iraq.


Mino  Hemati - U S A


Mino Hemati is one of the founders of The Organization for Emancipation of Women. Since 2004, she has expanded her activities with the production and implementation of the TV program RahaiZan “Emancipation of Women” on Channel One,

and continues to this day in this stronghold in defence of women's rights. She is also the secretary of the organization and the editor of the Emancipation of Women Monthly publication.


Sajia Sojaei - India,

An Afghan filmmaker, writer and media personality. She started her carrier as a filmmaker from Iran involved in directing documentaries and short films. Sajia holds almost 14 years experience in the field of Editing, script writing, photography and direction. Apart from that Sajia has done social work in Iran, such as helping free school moshtaq.


Nasrin Parvaz - U K

Nasrin Parvaz became a civil rights activist when the Islamic regime took power in 1979. She was arrested in 1982, tortured and spent eight years in prison. Her books include ‘One Woman's Struggle in Iran, A Prison Memoir’,and ‘The Secret Letters from X to A’, (Victorina Press 2018).
She has given talks on the violation of human rights in Iran, in a number of countries.


Shukria  Barakzai - Afghanistan

An Afghan politician, journalist, woman and human rights activist and prominent Muslim feminist. She has over 24 years of experience in women's and girls education. Advocacy, civil society, media, Diplomat, legislation and lawmaking.


Nazira  Mehmari - U K

Nazira is Operational Manager at IKWRO, where she leads the training and volunteer project, advice, specialist counselling teams and refuge. She oversees all casework, which includes “honour” based violence, forced marriage, FGM and domestic violence. Since 1979, Nazira has been an activist, fighting for secular society, women’s rights and equality.


Farah Nazeer - U K

Farah Nazeer has been chief executive of Women’s Aid since March 2021. With more than 20 years of director-level experience in the charity sector, she has devoted her career to women’s rights and
working to end violence against women and children. Farah has led Women’s Aid during a period of transition and significant growth, steering the charity through the unprecedented rise in demand for domestic abuse services presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Payzee Mahmod is a Campaign Manager at IKWRO. She campaigns to raise awareness about and to end harmful practices including child marriage, FGM, virginity testing and hymenoplasty, drawing on her own lived experiences. She is a member of Girls Not Brides Advisory Committee. In 2022 Payzee
was selected as an Obama Foundation’s Europe Leader. Payzee is a Global Citizen UK Prize Award Winner, 2022.
